Why do we spend so much time working for money, but so little time making our money work for us?’

I began grappling with this question several years ago. Through my job in financial services, I could clearly see how smart financial decisions are so important.

Why do we spend so little time making our money work for us? Because financial education is not explained in a simple manner - unless you’re a multi-millionaire with private bankers to manage your wealth. Sure, you can google some things, but most financial information is:

  1. too basic and condescending;

  2. dressed-up in so much jargon that it’s unintelligible; or

  3. factually incorrect.

******************************

As a society, we can and must do better. With living costs rising and savings rates low, doing nothing with your money is a costly decision. It’s time we had access to better financial information - a personal finances toolkit, containing all the tools you need. This is exactly what we want to share with you.

When it comes to money, we may know the basics. But there are financial mistakes that we are unknowingly making every day. Most of these are simple to fix, and the price paid for these mistakes is greater than anyone imagines – you have to work years or decades longer to earn the money you could have had with a proper financial framework.

Put simply, we can all get more ‘bang for the buck’ with our money.

Our mission is to help people set aside the jargon, taboos and misinformation. We will create a framework that allows every reader to prosper, no matter their age, wealth or financial knowledge. Through regular blogs, we will address some of the key questions pertaining to personal finances, including:

  • How the economic model has changed and what to do about it

  • How to change your emotional biases concerning money

  • How to harness the power of compound interest

  • How to budget sensibly but realistically

  • How to actually invest

  • How to think about buying a house and financing it over time

  • How to compare different types of assets

  • How to link money today with your goals and dreams for the future

  • How to focus on what’s truly important

If you’re interested in doing better with money, you’re in the right place. We will help you focus on the right financial priorities. Slowly at first, but with increasing momentum over time.

That’s our promise to you. In return, we ask for your thoughts and questions, so we can better help you on your financial path. And if you feel the benefits, share Democrafy with your friends and family - they’re very welcome to sign up.

We look forward to your company on this journey to demystify the world of finance. As they say, the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Let’s make money work for you.
